Customs Regulations in South Korea

Dutiable or restricted items are new items (less than six months old) or duplicate items; any item (new or used) valued over $1,500; all electrical items, cameras (of any type), foodstuff, musical instruments, pianos, carpet, ski and air cleaners, crystalware and golf clubs, luxurious furniture, mink coats and jewelry; alcohol and tobacco products; CD's (five allowed import, any in excess of that must be approved by the Secretary of Culture and Athleticism with a Letter of Recommendation completed by the customer).

The list of prohibited items is as follows: narcotics and medicines without prescriptions; firearms, weapons and ammunition (rifles can only be imported with a special permit from the proper Korean authority); pornographic or politically sensitive material; imitation banking notes or coins of foreign countries; plants (inspection in the quarantine office required); meats and fish.
