Import Regulations in Peru

Though there are no restrictions on importing goods to Peru, for security and public health reasons imports of certain goods are prohibited.

As part of the Andean Community (AC), the Latin American Integration Association (LAIA) and the WTO, Peru applies the international agreements signed by these bodies.

Documentation requirements for customs clearance include: customs unique declaration (DUA); Commercial Invoice; bill of lading or airway bill; packing list; proof of insurance; certificate of origin (if the imports are from one of the Andean Group countries to be eligible to get tariff preferences); food sanitary registry for food processed products (issued by the Food and Environmental health Bureau - DIGESA); sanitary certificate for animal, plants and by-products  (issued by the National Animal and Plan Health Services of the Ministry of Agriculture - SENASA); certificate of quality (for imports of pharmaceuticals).

There are 4 levels of duties in Peru: 4%, 7%, 12% and 20%.
