Import Regulations in Papua New Guinea

The documents required are as follows: inventory in English (the contents of each carton/package must be clearly defined); terms such as miscellaneous and PBO-Packed by Owner are prohibited; Personal Effects Declaration authorized by the Commission of Oath.

Customer must be in Papua New Guinea for customs clearance. Used household effects may be duty-free for Papua New Guinea citizens or employees of Papua New Guinea companies, providing they have owned and used the goods for at least 12 months prior to shipment arrival and goods are for their own personal use. All shipments are inspected.

The dutiable/restricted items are: new items (purchase receipts required); all electrical/electronic items; foodstuff (subject to quarantine); liquor (1 liter allowed duty free per person 18 and over); tobacco products (more than 50 cigars or 200 cigarettes).

The following items are prohibited to import: plants; soil; seeds; products from endangered animal species (such as ivory, skins, furs, feathers); narcotics; firearms; flick knives and pornographic material.
