All the Foreign Residents on private contract and returning Nepalese must ALSO provide the following documents: Passport of Customer and each member of the family; certificate of his Employer stating income sources of Customer; and Import License issued by the Department of Commerce.

All the documents must be received well in advance (minimum 20 to 30 days) of arrival of shipment at Indian port to avoid heavy demurrage and other additional charges.

Whereas shipments are often routed via Calcutta, shipments are subject to control and inspection by Indian Customs, CTD essential. Shipment must be consigned to owner’s full name and address in Nepal.

The dutiable/restricted items are new items (an invoice and Certificate of Origin required); long list of dutiable items including electrical and electronic goods, cosmetics and new items (Customer must obtain further information from Consulate of Nepal).

The antiques, pure silver and gold must be declared at the time of arrival and be re-exported at time of departure from Nepal.

The following items are prohibited to import: weapons and ammunition (must obtain prior approval from the Government of Nepal before importing); drugs; beef products; pornographic material.
