Customs Regulations in Mexico
The Foreign Diplomats should provide the following: copy of Diplomatic Passport; diplomatic free entry with an Import Permit (only one shipment allowed); declaration letter.

The Returning Mexican Diplomat must produce: Import Permit issued by the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs; passport (copy); R.F.C. number (Registro Federal de Causantes); inventory in Spanish; copy of Diplomatic Passport; destination address in Mexico.

The Mexican Nationals returning with Diplomatic Status should provide Spanish inventory; photocopy of Diplomatic Passport; letter declaring value of shipment and that no prohibited items are brought; destination address in Mexico; R.F.C. number (Registro Federal de Causantes).

Mexican customs regulations vary with Customer's immigration status and are subject to differing interpretations by Mexican authorities.

Do not move shipment until approval of all documents has been confirmed in Mexico. The goods imported must be in relation to the size of the family.

Electrical appliances and electronic items must be loaded together in one or two liftvans for ease of access by Customs. Divided shipments face additional problems and must arrive to the pier/airport at the same time. After 30 days upon arrival at airport and 60 days at surface port, shipments are declared abandoned by Customs.

The dutiable/restricted items are new items (less than six months old); duplicate appliances; paintings (from famous painters); silver and gold; antiques.

The prohibited items are weapons, ammunition and explosives; drugs; live plants; pornographic material; oriental rugs; wines and spirits; food stuffs.
