Import Regulations in Libya
The import licensing system that was once very strict has been greatly relaxed, laying the groundwork for a transition to a more market-based economy. Many products can now enter Libya without prior authorization.

In some areas (such a telecommunications equipment) imports is controlled by state corporations.

The customs regulations in Libya set two different categories of goods:
The first type is goods with no restrictions: once the correct procedure is followed, there is no restriction on importing such goods. The second one is restricted goods: prohibited items are all alcohol products as well as the import of obscene literature, pork, pork products and any kind of related products.
