Import Regulations in Iceland
Being a member of the EEA (European Economic Area), the WTO, the OECD and NATO, Iceland applies the international agreements signed by these bodies.

Some regulations governing imports arise from membership in the WTO and EEA, while others are national.

Mostly the laws state that importation of goods and services to Iceland is unrestricted unless otherwise is stipulated by the provisions of statutes or international agreements to which Iceland is party. Such restrictions are however many and in most sectors. There is a special 1 % duty which is levied on the sum involved in each instance when an exception is granted from import restrictions.
