Import Regulations in Ethiopia
The imported goods are subject to:
- duties and taxes according to the Harmonized Commodity Description coding system; 
- duties and taxes according to the preferential tariff rate where goods are imported from the preferred country;
- duties and taxes at the rate in force on the day the declaration of the goods are presented to, and accepted by the customs office.

The following documents are required: Air Waybill; inventory; and Insurance Certificate.

Diplomatic and United Nations shipments are duty free, while all others are taxable. Alcohol is restricted.

The next items are prohibited to import: all ammunitions; rifles; drugs; communications equipment, i.e. fax machines; cordless telephones; walkie-talkies (a permit from telecommunications authority is required).
