Import Regulations in Cyprus

The documents required are as follows: Residence Visa; Passport (covering the two years prior to importation, otherwise the previous passport is required); inventory; evidence that Customer will stay in Cyprus over a year, i.e. Rental Agreement, Contract Lease and Residence Permit. Another required document is an Exemption Certificate. This certificate for Diplomats must be provided by the Embassy in Cyprus. For offshore company expatriates, a C6 form must be supplied to customs for new items.

Customer must be in country for customs clearance in order to sign customs declaration in the presence of the customs officer.

Used personal effects and household goods may be imported duty-free, but they are subject to other taxes if the goods are: a subject to resale and Customer has resided less then a year in Cyprus during the last two years from the time of importation; in unreasonable quantities.

Here are the dutiable/restricted items: new items (invoice required); foodstuff; electric and electronic items; perfume; carpets; sports equipment; alcoholic beverages and tobacco products; plants (Import License and Phytosanitary Certificate required).

The prohibited items are: weapons and ammunition (one shotgun and one air rifle, at least one year old, permitted with Police Permit and Import License); narcotics; wireless telephones (walkie-talkies, etc.); and pornographic material.
