Goods including cement, coconut oil, medicine and medical equipment, crude soybean and palm oil, potato, reconditioned vehicles, as well as electric meters can be imported with conditions, while some items such as egg and fish fry can be imported freely.

The prohibited items list includes commercial import of methanol, two stroke three wheeler (baby taxi) and regulation of import of all sorts of acid materials.

Country’s import policy has extended the maximum value of goods that can be imported without opening letters of credit from the current limit of $5,000 to $25,000 in case of emergency imports and for the interest of industries.

Goods valued up to $5,000 can be imported without permission for personal use instead of the current limit of $2,000.

The rules also allows imports of used computers of a minimum Pentium II model to make machines available to the middle class, while all other old models of computers can be imported only as grants for educational institutions run by NGOs.
